GMMB Helps Deliver Historic Wins in Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania

Ad agency led paid TV creative for Ohio’s “Yes on Issue 1” campaign to secure reproductive freedom; Elected gun sense champions in VA legislature and Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court
Washington, D.C. (Nov. 8, 2023) – GMMB helped deliver decisive and historic victories tonight in Ohio, Virginia, and Pennsylvania, leading the paid media campaigns for Ohio’s “Yes on Issue 1” to secure reproductive rights and also helped elect gun safety champions in the Virginia state legislature and Pennsylvania Supreme Court on behalf of Everytown for Gun Safety.
GMMB led the creative development and paid persuasion media to enshrine abortion rights in Ohio’s state’s constitution, which resulted in a strong margin of victory. See examples of the aired advertising in Ohio here.
“With the right message and compelling creative, GMMB’s work in Ohio and Kansas has helped show how voters from across the country — and across the aisle — can be brought together to protect fundamental rights, privacy, and freedom.” said Harper Lawson, Partner at GMMB, who led the firm’s work for abortion rights ballot initiatives in Ohio this fall and Kansas last August.
The agency served as the paid media firm for Ohioans United for Reproductive Rights, producing 40+ ads for broadcast, cable, connected TV (CTV), over-the-top TV (OTT), as well as radio. GMMB also managed the media buying throughout the campaign.
“We are honored and grateful to do this work in partnership with the incredible coalition of advocates on the ground and the talented consulting team,” said Jodi Quintero, Managing Director and Senior Vice President, who oversees the firm’s electoral work on reproductive rights around the country and was also a lead strategist for the campaign in Ohio, as well as the abortion initiatives in Kansas and Vermont last year.
In Virginia, GMMB produced ads for Everytown for Gun Safety in 10 key state Senate and House districts, helping Democrats win majorities in the state House and Senate — a total rebuke of GOP Gov. Glenn Youngkin. In Pennsylvania, the firm produced TV advertising that helped defeat Republican Supreme Court nominee Carolyn Carluccio to protect Pennsylvanians from her extreme MAGA agenda.
