For more than 25 years, GMMB has partnered with leading education advocates to improve the learning opportunities for young children, teens and adults. We have deep education expertise, which includes former award-winning journalists, teachers and professionals from state and local government, the White House, U.S. Department of Education, Capitol Hill and education associations. Our issue expertise and relationships with key players in media, education and policy arenas enables us to be an effective, strategic partner to help our clients advance their work and reach their goals.
At GMMB, we understand that meaningful improvement in our nation’s schools is a long-term effort that requires a genuine belief that educational excellence is the key to our nation’s future and prosperity. We combine a deep knowledge of the issues with communications expertise to raise awareness and create urgency around our educational challenges. And awareness is key to building the collective political and public necessary to raise the quality of teaching and learning so that all students obtain an education that truly prepares them for college, career and life.
Our education work is aimed at ensuring that all students have the highest quality education possible. Specifically, we work to ensure:
We help our clients craft communications strategies, develop messages and creative platforms, build coalitions and bring together the voices vital to drive key aspects of P-20 education reform. Currently, we are partnering with the First Five Years Fund to build support for federal investments using traditional earned media and social media strategies to reach policymakers, opinion leaders and the general public. For the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation we created MakeItStick.org - a social marketing campaign designed to showcase how communities across the country are re-imagining how, when and where students learn.
We are the firm of record for the US Program of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and provide broad-based communications and advocacy strategy and support so that all students graduate high school prepared for success in college and career. We provide communications support for the Coalition for College and Career Ready America, which seeks to raise a broad array of voices for K-12 improvements. The James B. Hunt, Jr. Institute for Educational Leadership and Policy works at the intersection of policy and practice, and we are helping them assist stakeholders and states effectively implement college and career ready education standards.
We also work with the Gates Foundation to ensure that all students with the will to earn a postsecondary degree or credential have a way to do it. Similarly, we are working with the Institute for Higher Education Policy to build a coalition focused on increasing college completion rates among underrepresented students.
We recognize that changes in technology and digital systems are key tools in improving student achievement in the United States. We supported the launch and ongoing efforts of the Next Gen Learning Challenges, which invests in innovations in K-12 and higher education with the purpose of bringing the best of them to scale. We are assisting NBC’s Education Nation in the launch of its new blog, The Learning Curve. And planned and executed the high-profile launch of the education technology start-up Inigral, which helps college students use Facebook to communicate and persist to a degree.
