Joe Wagner

Joe Wagner, a vice president, has more than 15 years of experience in issue management, research, executive writing, crisis communications, media relations and grassroots organizing. Joe specializes in developing media relations strategies that support high-profile public affairs campaigns.

Since joining the firm, Joe has provided strategic communications to a number of clients, including the American Academy of Family Physicians, Discovery Channel, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.

Prior to joining GMMB, Joe was a vice president at Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide and DCS Group Public Affairs. He directed and implemented media relations and issue management strategies for a number of clients, including National Public Radio and United Jewish Communities.

Joe is a veteran of Democratic politics, having served as a press secretary on the 1992 and 1996 Clinton/Gore campaigns, the 1993 mayoral race in New York City, and the 1994 governor’s race in South Dakota. He also helped advance President Clinton’s agenda as an assistant press secretary at the Democratic National Committee.

Before coming to Washington, D.C., Joe worked as a reporter for the local CBS television affiliate in Santa Barbara, Calif. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California with a degree in broadcast journalism and psychology.
