| Kellie Murphy
Kellie Murphy, vice president, has more than a decade of experience in corporate, agency and nonprofit public relations. She brings extensive experience in strategic communication, branding, interactive media and broadcast production to GMMB's clients.
Kellie works on the National Changing Diabetes Program, providing strategic communication counsel to the program as it works to effect systemic change in the way diabetes is viewed, prevented and treated in the United States. She develops strategies to engage stakeholders in the diabetes community and provides day-to-day account management for interactive, branding, marketing and research projects and events.
Before joining GMMB, Kellie helped launch the American Democracy Institute, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving American democracy through increased youth civic engagement. As director of communications, she guided brand identity development and strategic positioning, and managed special events, development and the American Democracy Institute's national advisory board.
Prior to her work at the American Democracy Institute, Kellie served as the deputy director for communications at the James B. Hunt, Jr. Institute for Educational Leadership and Policy. There she directed strategic communications and special events, including the institute's signature symposia for U.S.governorsand an annual education policy retreat for state legislators.
Before entering the nonprofit arena, Kellie worked as an account manager at an agency in Raleigh, N.C., specializing in interactive communications and marketing for business-to-business clients, and as a senior producer at Williams, a Fortune 500 energy and communications company. She also taught undergraduate courses in photography, video and television production, and public relations at American University and North Carolina State University.
Kellie earned her bachelor's degree in telecommunications from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. She won a fellowship from American University in Washington, D.C., where she received her master’s degree in film and video. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Junior League. |
