| John R. Chambers
John joined GMMB in 2001 as a vice president. He brings to the firm more than 14 years of experience in broadcast media, and corporate, nonprofit and government communications.
Currently, John leads the Casey Family Programs’ communications team, which seeks to raise awareness of and engage the public in issues surrounding foster care. He also manages media outreach for the Air Bag & Seat Belt Safety Campaign and its national Click It or Ticket mobilization. John helped direct the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Faith in Action program, the Justice at Stake campaign, and the Fannie Mae Foundation’s Read Out Loud campaign.
Prior to joining GMMB, John was the director of communications for the Presidential Members of the U.S. Census Monitoring Board, the oversight body charged with monitoring and encouraging participation in Census 2000. He served as the spokesperson, managed communications and community outreach, and led efforts to ensure the participation of communities of color and children—traditionally the most undercounted populations.
John was the general manager of the Capitol Radio Network, where he increased the network’s audience size from several thousand to more than 10 million listeners, and developed radio commentaries for former NAACP president Kweisi Mfume, and former National Urban League president Hugh Price. He was also a senior account manager for Walls Communications, where he managed several nonprofit and Fortune 100 accounts. In addition, John worked for a public interest research group and an NBC affiliate in his native Western Massachusetts. |
