Kagan
Matthew Kagan is a senior vice president at GMMB, bringing a wide variety of marketing, communications and public policy experience to the firm.
Currently, Matthew directs the firm's efforts to support the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Childhood Obesity Prevention Team, which explores policy solutions to the childhood obesity epidemic and is working toward the goal of reversing the trend in childhood obesity by 2015. His responsibilities include strategic planning, earned media relations, executive writing, public opinion research and general account management.
Matthew also works closely with the California Endowment on a variety of public health initiatives, including projects focused on obesity prevention and health care reform.
Matthew's other projects include a branding and endangered species awareness campaign for Earthjustice, a nonprofit environmental law organization, and media outreach on behalf of EdSource, a California education think tank. He also provides communications support for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's United States Program.
Before joining GMMB, Matthew worked as senior policy advisor in Senator Barbara Boxer's (D-Calif.) Capitol Hill office. In the Senate, he focused on a wide variety of public policy issues, including education, health care, gun violence, national security and foreign affairs. He worked as a policy researcher and political aide for Senator Boxer's Senate campaign prior to joining her government staff.
A native Angelino, Matthew lives in Santa Monica with his wife and 2-year-old son. |
