| Susan DiLiddo Michels
Susan joined GMMB in 2000, bringing 15 years of experience in political campaigning, crisis communications and public relations to the firm’s nonprofit and political clients.
Campaigns & Elections Magazine named Susan a “Rising Star” for her work helping Democrats win tough races in rural and conservative states. She recently led the strategic, advertising and media efforts for Jim Webb for U.S. Senate in Virginia. Webb, President Ronald Reagan’s Navy secretary, crushed his primary opponent despite being heavily outspent and defeated a “safe” incumbent with presidential ambitions, delivering the Senate to the Democrats.
Susan’s earlier work for Mark Warner’s gubernatorial campaign helped widen Warner’s appeal with rural and suburban voters and return the governor’s mansion to Democrats after eight years. Warner’s legendary “Down Home” bluegrass ad was recognized by the American Association of Political Consultants with a first-place Pollie Award, and won a top-place Silver Telly Award from the advertising industry.
Susan also helped win Republican-held seats for U.S. Representative Ben Chandler of Kentucky, U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
Other clients Susan has worked with include the United Steelworkers, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Communications Workers of America, and Blue Cross Blue Shield Association.
Previously, Susan served as press secretary for Lt. Governor Buddy MacKay of Florida and communications director for U.S. Representative Marcy Kaptur of Ohio, and worked on several political campaigns across the country. |
