Annie Burns is a partner at GMMB. She has served as senior media strategist for a broad range of foundations, public interest efforts, government agencies, and electoral campaigns.
Since 1986, Annie has helped grow GMMB from a 10-person political advertising shop to a nationally recognized strategic communications firm of nearly 200.
Currently, Annie directs the communications campaign for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Covering Kids & Families Initiative, the single largest national effort to reduce the number of uninsured children in America. Over the past five years, Covering Kids & Families has reached tens of thousands of low-income families with information on low-cost and free health care coverage.
Annie also directs the advertising efforts for Illinois All Kids, the first statewide program in the nation to offer health care coverage to all children regardless of family income. Previously, she directed communications efforts for the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, FEMA, Corporation for National Service, AFL-CIO, and the National SAFE KIDS Campaign. In 1987, Annie worked with the National Democratic Institute to develop the aggressive field strategy that helped defeat Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet.
Prior to joining GMMB, Annie worked for the Mondale presidential campaign. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Creighton University. |
